£7.5m Project To Revolutionise The Vehicle Recycling Industry Gets The Go-Ahead
Factory Project

We are incredibly proud to share news that the planning application for our new 100,000 square feet purpose-built vehicle recycling factory has been approved.

This momentous occasion marks the go-ahead for us to proceed with the largest and most ambitious project in our 90+ year history.  Once finished, this will completely revolutionise the vehicle recycling industry as we know it.

Our ultimate aim is to recycle as close to 100% (currently 96.2%) and in order to achieve this modernising our facilities is a must. To achieve this, we will demolish our existing warehouses and bring all our operations under one new building.

Warehousing Update

To meet growing demand for our off-the-shelf parts solution, we have commissioned a new 20,000 square feet warehouse that will be built at Holton Heath, with an estimated completion date of August 2020.

Factory Build

Once the Holton Heath warehouse has been completed, we will commence work on building the new 100,000 square feet factory. Once complete, this will house our state-of-the-art reverse vehicle manufacturing process. This work is estimated to be completed by the end of 2021.

Local Impact

Once completed, this project will firmly place Poole on the map as the home of vehicle recycling. We are excited to bring these plans fit for a 21st century industry to fruition. After all, here is where it all began for our fourth-generation family-ran company way back in 1926.

To meet demands of our new factory, we will be employing a further 50-60 new members of staff to bolster our existing 220 member strong team.

Marc Trent (Managing Director) Statement

“This project is already 3 years in the planning with another 2 years to completion, so a lot still needs to be done. Our goal is to retrieve more product from each vehicle efficiently and to meet the growing demand for used parts globally. In addition, we will be increasing the very strict recycling target of 95% to as close to 100%. This new facility will introduce new techniques and working practices that will enable us to be the most efficient and forward-thinking vehicle recycler in the world. Charles Trent already has many years of experience within its 220 strong workforce and now is the time to welcome new people and new skills to our industry.”
