No matter how many technological advances are made in cars the automakers still struggle with parcel shelves. It seems that our car can’t make a trip to the tip or supermarket without a string or bracket snapping off into the boot.

Before you channel your inner Blue Peter and go to town with a combination of dowel, screw or glue (no sticky back plastic required) to try and repair the shelf DIY style it’s worth taking a step back and assessing the situation.
How good are your DIY skills? If they fall between terrible and average avoid this repair unless you want your boot to resemble a dog’s dinner. If you are handy with tools you’ll likely repair the shelf well but still have the fact you bodged the repair at the back of your mind.
